Sherwin Levinson is the Executive Director for MRC GEM - a nonprofit Medical Reserve Corps serving
Georgia's Gwinnett, Newton, and Rockdale counties.
Sherwin studied physics at MIT and the University of Chicago (U of C) and earned his MBA in Math Methods and Computers also at U of C.
While he was a computer and internet consultant, Sherwin served as Emergency Manager for the City of Berkeley Lake and has been Executive Director of an all-volunteer nonprofit Medical Reserve Corps unit for nearly a decade.
During this time, he has worked closely with CDC personnel in developing the CDC’s program for training radiation response volunteers.
He has gained extensive experience in response to radiation emergencies and has presented numerous lectures and training sessions on the topics of radiation response with Georgia Emergency Management Summits and the 2014 and 2015 Preparedness Summits.
Our mission is to augment existing community health operations during large-scale emergencies, aid in response to pressing health care needs, and improve community emergency preparedness.
Everyone is welcome to join MRC GEM. Our members come from all walks of life, including the medical and health professions.
We are not a military organization, though our name might sound like one. We are a top-to-bottom volunteer organization.
Our goals for our members are to learn and practice:
Come meet Sherwin and his team at the upcoming KNOW YOUR NEIGHBOR event and learn more about how you and your loved ones can be safe & secure when disasters happen.
